I'm excited for these readings especially for the Native American unit. I've take a Native American music class and I had a lot of fun learning about the cultural importance of song and dance. Most of the other stories I chose are things I've heard about through pop culture and other references but never actually read.

 ( Mute Swan by Yerpo) The Swan Maidens by Joseph Jacobs:  Characters: Hunter, Youngest Swan Maiden, King Hunter: Is a creep. feels that blackmailing is an appropriate way to get someone to marry him. Youngest Swan Maiden: Needs better siblings. Should not marry someone that is blackmailing them.  King: Needs to take better care of his daughters. Lost one and did not even care.  Plot:  Creepy hunter watches a bunch of maidens who have wing cloaks bathing and playing in a lake. He steals the youngest one's clothes. When the maidens want to go home they all get their clothes, but the youngest one can not find hers. The hunter comes out when the other sisters have abandoned her. He has her cloak but gives her his coat and tells her she has to marry him. He hides her feathers away so she won't ever leave him(red flag).  They have two kids together. Reading Notes: Japanese Fairytales: Part A

( Wooden Fence by Idlir Fida) The Envious Neighbor by Andrew Lang: Characters:  The old man and old woman, their neighbor, their dog The old couple: They are a good pair of people. Kind to a fault and honestly a bit too trusting of the people around them. The neighbor: Very jealous and greedy of what his neighbors got from their dog. Does not respect personal property at all Dog: just a good boi Plot:  One day the old man is digging in his yard and his dog gets his attention and tries to get him to dig in a particular spot. The old man does so and finds a chest full of golden coins and the couple is now quite wealthy. The neighbor sees this and is jealous so he asks to borrow the dog. He lets the dog loose in his yard but it doesn't find anything for a while. A bit later the dog starts pointing at an area and he digs it up and all he finds are some old smelly bones. This makes him very angry so he goes and kills the dog. He then goes to the old couple and tells them the dog ...
